LG Vu Phone
The new LG Vu Phone has caused quite a stir amongst
mobile phone users; the elegant but sturdy build hides some rather
special features that even iphone enthusiasts may envy. The design is sophisticated, black and shiny, with rounded silver sides. The slim dimensions of only 4.24 inches long by 2.16 inches wide and only 0.15 inches thick, means this cell phone will appeal to those who like to keep their phones in a pocket without straining the seams or advertising its presence. Lighter than an iphone or others with comparable features, it closely resembles the LG Prada, unavailable in the U.S.
Screen quality is one of the Phone’s strongest features, with an
eye catching 3 inch width; it supports 262,000 colors and boasts
240x400 pixels resolution, giving clear, well saturated images in all
its functions. Another very popular innovation is the user calibrated
touch screen, which responds to key tapping with a weaker or stronger
vibration. Finger “swiping” scrolls through menus and web pages, a
technique that quickly becomes familiar to the fingers.Once the phone is unlocked, four icons line the base of the screen, main menu, AT&T Mobile TV, contacts list and phone, the latter brings up a dialing pad. Four short cuts bring up the eight application short cuts, Cellular Video, the music player, a new message, Bluetooth activation, instant messaging, the Web browser, the calendar, and voice command. For texting, a full QWERTY keyboard is an option, where the screen switches to landscape style, and users with larger fingers will find either method comfortable, due to the larger size screen.
Inside the menus, users with larger contacts lists may find the
available space of 500 entries a little cramped, while appreciating all
the usual features like vibrate mode, a speakerphone, text and
multimedia messaging, a calendar, a calculator, a tip calculator, a
notepad, a world clock, a task list, a stopwatch, and a unit converter.
More serious users will like the HTML Web browser, e-mail, USB mass
storage, voice recording, voice command and dialing, instant messaging,
and Bluetooth. Supported Bluetooth profiles include hands-free,
headset, dial-up networking, A2DP/stereo, object push, file transfer,
and A/V remote control. This new phone introduces the AT&T Mobile TV service, accessed vi
a a small aerial stored internally. Some areas are without
transmitters for this service, but where available, quality of
reception is very good. The LG Vu also has a 2.0-megapixel camera,
reasonable video quality, producing surprisingly good photo images from
the smaller pixels, and a night vision feature. The sound quality in
calls and music player are excellent, the speakers have plenty of
volume, without distortion. The LG Vu Phone has great appeal to buyers who seek a telephone first, rather than a music player which doubles as one .
